Grade Calculator: Current Grade and What You Need on the Final
A grade calculator combines your scores with the weight of each assessment category to show your current standing in a course, and tells you what mark you need on what is left to reach a target grade.
Weighted categories
Most syllabi split a course into weighted parts — for example homework 20%, midterm 30%, final 50%. Your grade is the sum of each category percentage multiplied by its weight. A perfect homework record cannot rescue a poor final when the final carries half the course, so knowing the weights tells you where effort actually pays.
The score you need on the final
Rearranging the weighted formula gives: required final score = (target − current × completed weight) ÷ final weight. If the answer is above 100 the target is out of reach, and if it is below zero you have already secured it. Run the numbers early enough to change how you study, not the night before.
