How the grade calculator works
w is the exam's share of the final grade. Everything already banked counts for the remaining (1 − w).
Formula
needed = (target − current × (1 − w)) ÷ w
Worked example
At 78% with a 30% final, you need 101.3% to finish on 85% — so aim for a lower target.
